Meet some of the absurd yet funny Android apps

Another category consists of entertaining apps that allow you to detect almost everything. For those of you who are tuned to the other world, you can get the Ghost Detector, an app that will alert of the presence of what else but ghosts! It will also detect paranormal activities. Then you have several lie detectors, but the one that caught our attention is the Advanced Lie Detector Plus. The developer of this app claims to have implemented NATO algorithms that supposedly detect stress present when someone is telling a lie. He makes no claims about its accuracy, but doesn’t say that it’s fake either. Then you have the highly customisable Idiot Detector.
You can basically change the name of this app to just about anything, from ghost detector, lie detector and so on.      

Irritated by the swarm of mosquitoes hovering about? Or want to keep away that dog in your neighbourhood? Don’t worry, these apps will help you, or so they claim. First up is the Mosquito Repellent, which, as the name suggests, will help you keep the mosquitoes away. It emits unique high frequency sound that will keep the mosquitoes away. Of course, you can’t hear the sound; the only way of knowing if it’s effective is to use it and if no mosquitoes attack you, then you know its working. You can also use the frequency control to find an optimal repelling frequency for your region. And if this particular app doesn’t work for you, then there are several other similar apps you can try. You may want to try it out on your next camping trip. Next up is the Dog Repellent, which will emit a high frequency sound that the dogs may find disturbing and thus will stay away.  Alongwith the mosquitoes and the dogs, you even have the cat repellent and even a rat repellent.   

With the next category of apps, you can scan fingerprints, palm, retina and much more. You have fingertip scanning apps like the Fingerprint Scanner Lock. It doesn’t really scan your fingerprint, but the trick is to set the number of scan cycles before it unlocks the device. Similarly, you also have the Retinal Scanner Lock. Next up is the Fingerprint Mood Scanner, which is quite interesting. This isn’t so because it is bang-on about predicting the mood after scanning your thumb (which isn’t possible), but because of all the positive feedback the app has received. Next time you are out clubbing, be sure to check your blood alcohol level using the Blood Alcohol Scanner before stepping on the gas. If you are worried about your future, then you can try thePalm Scanner app that will tell you what’s in store for you. And in case you are questioning your IQ after downloading some of these apps, then you can use the IQ Scanner to determine your intelligence.

Well, in these depressing economic conditions, if you really want to stand out, then you can download the I’m Rich!! and Got Cash? apps. Why? you might ask. You will know when you try to download them on the play store. In the words of the developer of the I’m Rich!! app, it is a non-functional app that will place a diamond on your phone screen to show off your wealth. That’s right, you can buy these diamonds that vary in costs; the most expensive being the black diamond that will set you back by Rs 13,000. You can then flaunt it and be a part of the diamond club. And if you buy it right now, then you will be the first to own this app. On the other hand, Got Cash? has a pretty straightforward description. It reads: "if you have cash, then prove it by buying this useless app for Rs 10,000."
